why so brief?

Lucy Gordon died today.

Ok I admit, I didn't even know who she was before it was all over the news. And I definitely don't remember seeing her in Spiderman 3 but anyways,
It was just shocking how brief life was. If she had suicided for publicity (which is the dumbest thing I've heard but probably would perk Paris Hilton's ears up), she isn't here to see if it worked or not. She isn't here to see that there are so many sites proclaiming her death, lamenting her.

When someone dies, they can't exist, can't come back.

Like Matthew Krel. A sudden rare disease, and died.

No one plans for these things. What if you never had a chance to even think up a few dying words?

Today, I've learnt that human life is brief and fleeting. Life starts as an instantaneous burst of energy that starts mitosis and cells dividing, and we are officially born.

But people don't enjoy life enough. We are too preoccupied with the little things. Gossip, our job, love, MONEY.

What for? In the face of death, do any of these things matter? I admit but, its easy to get lost in the materialistic side of things. It would be asking a bit too much to be so sober everyday, but its just nice to have a reminder every once in a while.

Appreciate what we have.
Because it might not be there when you wake up tomorrow.
